What is an OKX referral code, exactly?
An OKX referral code (also called invite code) is a unique identifier OKX assigns to each referral programme. Ours is OK18866.
Its function is simple: you enter it at signup → OKX's backend knows "this new account came from a specific referral programme" → that referral programme subsequently receives a commission share from OKX.
Key facts:
- No extra cost to you — OKX pays the referral commission, and the trading fees you pay don't go up because of it.
- A discount on top of the standard rate — your base fee rate is OKX's standard rate either way; the code adds up to 20% off trading fees, subject to OKX's current terms.
- Affiliates can see your trading data — they can look up your trade history by UID; OKX's published rules don't say they can see your real-name details or asset balances. More in the FAQ below.

5 referral code traps to watch out for
⚑ "I'll sign up for you"
Anyone DMing "add my WeChat/Telegram, I'll sign you up to OKX with a bigger fee discount" — is a scam. All OKX signups must be done by you personally. Handing your account to a stranger = the start of your assets being moved out.
⚑ "Use my referral code for X USDT bonus"
OKX itself sometimes runs "new-user cash voucher" campaigns, but be wary of any private promo promising specific amounts ("100 USDT signup bonus", "20% off fees for life, guaranteed"). Rates change with OKX's affiliate policy, so a guaranteed fixed number is a warning sign.
⚑ "Download the OKX link I send you"
Check the address bar: OKX's site is okx.com. Lookalike spellings (a zero for the O, extra words such as -vip or -secure, other endings) are a phishing sign. All OKX links on this site point to www.okx.com — you can hover to verify.
⚑ "Referral codes can be transferred / sold"
Referral codes are bound to an account; they cannot be transferred or sold. Anyone "selling a high-discount referral code" is running a scam.
⚑ "Secret VIP referral codes with bigger discounts"
There is no such thing as a "VIP referral code." OKX's Affiliate FAQ puts the rate passed on to invitees at 0% to 20%, so codes can differ, but none goes above that cap. When you see "VIP" or "exclusive" promo language, check what's actually being promised. If a specific dollar amount or percentage is being guaranteed, refer back to the previous two flags.
Does it matter whose referral code you use?
OKX's signup flow, KYC requirements and account features are the same no matter whose referral link you use. What can differ is the discount rate each affiliate passes on within OKX's rules; go by what OKX shows at sign-up.
What this site has besides the code:

FAQ
Is the referral code required?
No, you can register without one. But OKX doesn't let you add a referral code after sign-up, so if you leave the field blank you sign up without the discount.
Does using a referral code leak my identity?
The referral code is a tracking ID telling OKX the user came from a specific affiliate. OKX's Affiliate FAQ says affiliates get a detailed trade history for every transaction, searchable by the invitee's UID; it doesn't say affiliates can see your real name or balances. If you don't want an affiliate seeing your trade history, don't enter anyone's code.
I already have an OKX account. Can I add the code later?
No. The code can only be entered at sign-up, and OKX's Affiliate FAQ says a failed registration binding can't be re-bound to an affiliate afterwards. (OKX's affiliate programme has a separate recall process for existing users; whether it applies is for OKX to confirm, and it isn't the same thing as entering a referral code.) Anyone claiming they can add a referral code to your existing account is running a scam.
